Loganlea Results 12-05-2012
Only Alan Burns Snr and Chris Verrecchia didn’t manage to get there limit and both were subject to a bit of heckling from the rest of the club for about the last hour in front of the Cabin.
Ian McNicoll Snr (Mick) won the outing with a weight of 8lb 7 ozs (with 2 of his fish over 3lbs) – He took his fish on a small black rabbit with a gold head and red collar – the same fly brought success to other club members that were fishing on the Dam wall. Raymond Jacobs also caught a lot of fish off the Dam using buzzers and others had success with Cats Whiskers and Damsels. Colin Broadhead was quickiest to bag up and had caught all of his fish by 10.00 a.m. from the area in front of the cabin.

Carron Valley 28 – April 2012
The weather was extremely cold and the fishing was as tough as it gets. The outing was won by Alan Burns Snr with 3 fish for 6lbs 7ozs taken in Bin Bay. The most successful tactic was sinking lines with smaller flies or lures stripped fast – However, most of the club had a dissapointing day with very poor returns – Only Alan Burns Snr, Alan Burns Jnr, Colin Broadhead and George Boag caught fish – Others picked up some small Brownies but all in it was a tough day….
Next outing Loganlea – fingers crossed for better weather and fishing.

We kicked off with a breakfast and decided that we’d fish for 30 minutes before moving along 2 pegs to allow everyone a fair chance.
It took some of the club anglers a bit of time to find the right tactics on the day – Neill Barrett did well with a bug under a bung and others followed his lead to bag up quite quickly. Lures also produced good results for some anglers and by the close of play only one club member had failed to pick up any fish.
The outing was won by G Boag, closely followed by Neill Barrett and Colin Broadhead.
Ian McNicoll Jnr now leads the league table after 2 events and the next outing is to Carron Valley on 28th April

Everyone caught their limits on various tactics and locations. The outing was won by Mikey McVie who joined the club this year – He picked up his fish on the far side from the lodge. Mick Mulgrew who came along as a guest also weighed in 3 fish for 9lbs and had a total bag of over 20 fish which were carefully released. Everyone enjoyed the outing and was impressed by both the quantity and quality of fish – at least 2 of the released fish were in excess of 10lbs.
